Roofing Requirements
The roof in question needs to be able to hold up ample amounts of snow and rain. Also it need to be made of a low matenance material. Price is no problem in question so price range doesnt matter as much. There are no tornados or hurricanes that occur in the area, but the snowfall can block even the first story doors.

Types of Roofs
There are many types of roof to choose from, the choices are as follows:
Flat. There are some obvious ones notto choose, this is one of them. Flat roofs are horizontal or almost horizontal. They drain water by a slight incline and are not that good for snowy temperatures. Flat roofs are cheap and often seen in warm dry climates. The maintenace of such of roof is also a problem. Overtime the roof loses its coating and leaks will occur unless checked often. There is a fear of too much build up of snow included, so this roof does not pass requirements.
Gable. A gable roof is that which lies on a triangular portion of wall. The triangular portion of the wall is called a gable, hence the name. A gable roof can be a variety of angled slopes, depending on how much snowfall occurs. The way a geble roofs look depends soley on how the layout of the house works. The only drawback of a gable roof is that its the worst roof to use in area that hurricanes occur that to the updraft it creates. Since it canhae its slope changed for the sake of snowfall and that there are no strong winds in the area. It makes itself one of the best choices.
Mansard. Mansard roofs are four-sided gambre-hipl roof that have two slopes, the lower one steeper and often having windows. The purpose of a mansard roof is it's use of space, making it the best attic roof type. The second half of the mansard usually cant be seen from the ground and is often mistaken for other types of roofs. Now there are 2 types of mansard roofs, the true mansards roofs and the post-modern ones. Post-modern roofs (shown above) have a flat top and should be classified as a flat but fall under a mansard for its 2 slopes. This does give it the benifit though of being able to hide heaters and vents from the public eye. A true mansard has no flat top (shown below) and is better for rain and snow, as well as needing less maintenance. The mansard is a valid option of choice.
